New research from the American Cancer Society and other public health groups found people with higher than recommended blood levels of vitamin D have a lower risk of developing colorectal cancer. The finding was particularly significant for women. Sunlight is the easiest way for the body to absorb vitamin D, but of course too much UV light can increase the risk for skin cancer.
